Recent Changes to the Rules Governing Lawyers in Illinois (2016)



Program Description:
The Illinois Supreme Court adopted several amendments to the lawyer ethics rules to bring them up to date with technology and developments in global practices. Described as evolutionary rather than revolutionary, learn what those changes are and what they may mean for your practice.

Program Objectives:
  • Learn about the 2016 amendments to the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct made in light of advances in technology and developments in global practices, and how those Rule amendments impact the ethical obligations of legal practitioners in six general areas: 1) technology and confidentiality; 2) client development; 3) lawyer mobility; 4) outsourcing; 5) globalization; and 6) changing culture.
Important MCLE Notice:
If you have previously viewed this program and received a Certificate of Completion, you may only claim MCLE credit once for this Program within a 12-month period. The ARDC reports individual attorney attendance to the MCLE Board by the 5th of the month subsequent to the date of completion of the MCLE program (for example, September events will be reported by October 5).
